How Do I ?

Active Works is not just for the disadvantaged. Many people, from all walks of life, get a lot of satisfaction from Active Works;    How ?

Registered Charity No. 1082064

All our members are volunteers. Don't worry if you're not an outdoor instructor. We need many other skills to enable our Charity to operate. Whether you have organisational, driving, cooking or administrative skills or you just have a lot of patience, empathy and enthusiasm, we need your help to make Active Works work. A few hours a month can make a big difference...

They help us with their time !

We couldn't function without those members of the general public who use our annual Christmas shoppers car park, enter a team for our dragonboat race or come for an evening of entertainment at our Ceilidhs.

We all have full time jobs and we appreciate that modern living is very time consuming. If you can't spare your time, come to a fundraiser - send us your e-mail address so that we can let you know when the next event is or alternatively just keep an eye on our forthcoming events web page.

They attend our fundraisers !

According to the Health Development Agency, 8.5% of six year olds and 15% of 15-year-olds are now classed as obese.
Between 1996 and 2001, the proportion of overweight children aged six-15 years old, increased by 7%.
It is believed that a decline in the amount of physical activity in children has contributed to this. If you have children, encourage them to take up more outdoor activities; why not join a club ? Even walking can improve your health, whatever your age. The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 will come into force on September 19th 2004 and four million acres of extra land will be opened for walkers.
